Adjustment of Effects and Conversions between Clips in a Playlist

Cut, X-mix, V-mix and Wipe - conversions

SL NEO platform allows setting conversions between clips in the playlist lines. The window Broadcast contains a column Mixer that defines the type of conversion. The default value is Cut.

To set a conversion, you should specify a type of transition in that line of the column Mixer to which you want to make a conversion. Conversion variants: X-Mix и V-Mix.

X-Mix is a standard mixer that implements effect through a freeze frame in order to avoid displaying undesirable video that is placed behind the Out point of the clip. It may also be useful, when the Out point of a clip is final (physically, it has no video behind), herewith, to implement a conversion, the "Out" value should be reduced for the value of conversion duration. It would lead to the change of clip duration and, respectively, to the time shift for all of the following clips in the playlist.

V-Mix is a mixer conversion through the "black burst". The effect starts certain time before the clip end and is implemented with no freeze frames.

You can set the speed of conversion in the column Mix Speed: Fast (ten frames), Mid (fifteen frames), Slow (twenty five frames).

wipe.jpgYou can set a name for a static clip (a conversion template - Wipe) in the column Mix Wipe.

Wipe is an effect Gradient Wipe that uses a full screen static picture containing a transition template (Wipe). During the conversion duration, the clip transparency will being changed, thus, a clip contained in the next line will appear “under transition”. During the conversion, the sequence of the transparency changing will be kept: from the template darkest areas, with smooth transition to the lighter ones.

The template example described at the picture is a vertical wipe. You should import a static full screen file that contains a black-and-white template to the server database and then, when configuring the conversion, specify its name in the column Mix Wipe.

Conversions with using Wipe templates are implemented if X-Mix and V-Mix types of conversion have been set.

Overlay - effects between clips

By using a graphic layer and the technology of secondary events, you can configure the Overlay effect between two adjacent clips in the playlist.

The third clip with an alpha-channel is used as an effect and overlays the moment of conversion from one event in the main playlist to another event.

The current clip should contain three animation files: “beginning", "full screen", "final". The clip is placed in the list of secondary events, it's fixed to the main playlist line that will finish the broadcast (clip A). The clip with an alpha-channel starts its broadcasting certain time before the end of a main event (clip A). By the moment, when animation takes full screen, the clip A is finished and the main playlist starts playback of a next event (clip B). Herewith, playout of a clip with an alpha-channel is being continued, and in the moment of playback of the third animation phase, the clip B “is being opened”.

Lists of secondary events are displayed at the bottom part of the window Broadcast of the main playlist. Let’s define a type of start for a clip with an alpha-channel -From End. It’s the type of start, when the subordinate event starts certain time before the end of a main event. Specify the time value in the field Stop Time. You should set the time value from the beginning of a clip-effect to the moment when animation takes full screen.

Player is a virtual layer/playlist (Layer), in which the server implements playback of a current graphic event. You can use the “uppermost” layer - for example, the eighth layer, so the effect can hide all the "bottom" graphic layers.

You can download an example of a clip with an alpha-channel by this link. The resolution parameters are: 1920x1080 - after downloading, you should import the file into the server database.
