Adjustment of Automatic Recording by the Internal Schedule of the Server

Control of recording in SL NEO servers may be implemented in any of 3 modes:

·         Manual control;

·         Automatic record of materials according to the beforehand prepared detailed schedule - rec-list;

·         Automatic recording by the internal schedule of the server.

Let’s consider in details the third recording mode. As a rule, the internal schedule is used when recording the formed programs, or when recording the on-air broadcast in the so-called loggers.

The internal schedule of SL NEO server allows setting up to five rules/intervals of record by week days and hours/minutes, for example: "Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.", "Saturday-Sunday round-the-clock".

The process of setting the internal recording schedules of SL NEO servers is implemented from the control panel – Administrator Control Panel, when working server software. Login to the console is implemented locally from the server, or from any computer in the network by the address http://ip address:7901. You should login to the control console as an administrator.

When you enter the control console, choose Manage from the left menu, and then find the item Recorders. You may configure the individual recording schedule for every recording channel of SL NEO server. To configure the schedule for the recording channel #1, choose the item Time table captures in the window Recorder 1

Parameter Burn in Date and Time

The parameter Burn in Date and Time implements overlaying the recorded picture with an actual date and time for a current recording channel. This information is read off from the system timer of SL NEO server.

Field Time ranges

In the field Time ranges you can choose the number of simultaneously working rules/intervals, by which the server will implement recording. Setting one rule is enough for round-the-clock recording, so choose 1 in the field Time ranges. After this, parameters of the first rule Range 1 will become available for editing.

Sections Range

The sections Range are used for adjusting the start time of recording and for its length in the format HH:MM:SS. For round-the-clock recording, set the value 00:00:00 for the start in the field Range 1, and the maximal value Duration. You should also mark the days of week, in which recording will be implemented.

Field Chunk

The field Chunk defines the fragment duration. If you record the event as files and save them to the file folder, the value Chunk will define the duration of every file. If recording is implemented into the SL NEO server database, the value Chunk will define the duration of every media-material in the database. Meanwhile, you should keep in mind that a media-material in the database is not a file: the material consists of one-minute pieces, owing to this its viewing is possible in 1 minute after the start of recording. The record with 24 hours duration (with the configuration Chunk=4 hours) will consist of 6 clips in the server database.

Field Days to store

In the field Days to store you should choose the duration of storing the material. It is useful when recording to the server database, because the database service provides automatic deletion of the media- and meta-data for every material in the SL NEO server storage after the defined date.

When you finish editing, click Apply Changes at the top part of the control console window. The appropriate recording channel will be reloaded. After this, the server record service will start automatic generation of a rec-list for the given channel, according to which the recording will start.

Example of adjusting the schedule
Mon-Fri from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Sat-Sun – round-the-clock

Field Time ranges

In the field Time ranges you can choose the number of simultaneously working rules/intervals, by which the server will implement recording. We choose the value “3” for the given example. When you choose it, the parameters of intervals Range 1, 2, 3 will become available for editing.

Duration

Set up the time of start and the appropriate values Duration for every recording interval, also mark the week days, on which you want to implement recording.

Field Chunk

Specify the value Chunk as four hours. In the field Days to store define the duration of storing the recorded materials: 60 days.

After the end of editing, click Apply Changes at the top part of the control console window, to save the configuration. The appropriate recording channel will be reloaded.
