Federal broadcasters often encounter the need to re-broadcast the transmitted signal with a time shift through several time zones. It is necessary not only to simply delay the broadcast until a certain time, but also to replace ad/program blocks and the graphic design in the delayed signal.

SkyLark Technology offers solutions for the organization of regional SD/HD television broadcasting from the federal center based on SL NEO 3000 and 4000 series servers. Servers may have various different configurations, for example: one input and six outputs, allowing broadcasting in five time zones, with one channel used for monitoring. If there are two inputs, the second may be used to digitize taped materials, etc.

Time Shift without regional Ad insertions

The following major functions are implemented in SL NEO 4000 series servers:

  • Programmable playback time shift in seconds / minutes / hours /days
  • Delay from three minutes to several days for each channel (depends only on the array volume)
  • Multiple time zones

Time Shift with regional Ad insertions

The following major functions are implemented in SL NEO 3000 series servers:
  • Broadcast quality across 24/7 operation
  • Programmable playback time shift in seconds / minutes / hours /days
  • Delay from three minutes to several days for each channel (depends only on the array volume)
  • Ingest (package digitization, scheduled recording, import of materials)
  • Entry of materials into the delayed signal, broadcast according to play lists
  • Graphic design for each channel (captions, scrolling text, PiP, logos, clock, 32-bit video, SMS/RSS)
  • Generation of Ultra HD/HD/SD program signals and types: SDI/YCRCB/CVBS, SDI Embedded/AES/Analog Audio, traffic flow generation SPTS/MPTS in ASI/IP, MPEG-2/Н.264

Profanity delay

Profanity delay refers to the practice of intentionally delaying broadcast of live material. A short delay is often used to prevent profanity, bloopers or other undesirable material from making it to air, including more mundane problems such as technical malfunctions or coughing. In this instance, it is often referred to as a seven-second delay or profanity delay.
