Configuring the Emergency Screen - Alarm Clip

Alarm Clip is a command in the Top Menu of Air Manager for an emergency switching to the УalarmФ clip. Pressing the button Alarm Clip in the Air Manager Top-menu will insert a new line containing a clip with an emergency sequence into the current playlist position, the application will implement transition to the given line. The line will acquire the status Hold and the УalarmФ clip will be played infinitely; automatic switching to the next event will not be implemented. You can УleaveФ the УalarmФ clip by the command Skip or GoTo in the Top-menu of Air Manager.

The mode Alarm Clip should be configured at the server platform beforehand:

1. Upload the appropriate media-file to the server. Uploading the file to the SL NEO server is implemented directly from the control web-console Administrator Control Panel. Choose the item Files in the console menu, then click Upload File and choose the file. The procedure of uploading is simple copying media-files without any conversions. After the file is loaded, it appears in the list at the page Files of the control panel.

This technology allows uploading files from any remote machine to the server, with using a web-browser, and not using shared resources. Physical location of the uploaded file is the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SL NEO Media Platform\run\files at the SL NEO server. Except this method, you can also copy the file to the folder by using Windows Explorer: after the end of copying, the file will also appear in the list of the console menu Files.

You should take into account that the file with the alarm clip will be played back from the server system disk, and not from the RAID-array. This circumstance imposes restrictions: you should use the minimally possible bitrate in the Alarm Clip file, because performance of the system disk is wittingly lower than performance of the RAID-array (the recommended speed is not more than 20 Mbit/s).

2. Choose the uploaded file as the Alarm-clip for the service Program Channel: the procedure is implemented from the control web console Administrator Control Panel. Choose the item Manage from the console menu, then select the tab Program Outputs. In the chosen service Program Channel choose the tab Automation, then find the item Parameters. In the field Alarm Clip choose the uploaded file from the list. Press Apply Changes (at the top part of the server control console), to save the settings. Herewith, the configured channel Program Channel will be reloaded, playback of the current channel will be stopped while reloading.

Alarm Clip with a Clock

To use a clip with a clock as an alarm clip, you can implement the following actions: export the appropriate clip - a graphic composition from the server database to the file folder (the *.slg extension), then upload the file to the server and choose it as the Alarm-clip (see the p. 1 and 2). You should note the fact that the given file is a text xml-description of a composition, therefore all initial media data should be present in the server database for correct playout. You should also take into consideration that in case of a breakdown of the RAID-array that contains a media-base, it will be impossible to playback an alarm clip that refers to the materials from the database.

The way to solving this problem is to create a graphic composition with a clock without participation of the database, using the media files placed in the local folder of the system disk. Save the file with a composition (the extension *.slg) to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SL NEO Media Platform\run\files at the server, and choose it as an alarm clip (see the p.2).
