Workflow

Precision TS Pass-Through & Re-Timing

Easy Muxer goes beyond simple remultiplexing by enabling broadcast-safe pass-through from IP sources to ASI or satellite transmitters. Many IP transport streams are generated by standard servers, where timing and bitrate are driven by software clocks rather than precise hardware references. When such streams are fed directly into ASI or satellite equipment, timing instability can cause buffer overflows, underflows, and transmission errors.
Easy Muxer automatically stabilizes the stream in real time, regenerating PCR timing and managing stuffing packets to ensure a constant, transmitter-friendly bitrate. This allows IP-generated transport streams to be safely retransmitted over ASI or satellite links without modifications to the source encoder.
The result is a clean, compliant output that bridges IT-based encoding workflows with traditional broadcast transmission infrastructure — reliably and transparently.

Statistical Multiplexing

Easy Muxer supports statistical multiplexing in conjunction with Playout modules, enabling the generation of MPTS streams with a fixed overall bitrate. This is essential in scenarios with strict output bitrate constraints, such as terrestrial multiplexes or satellite transponders. Available bitrate is dynamically allocated to the services that need it most, while maintaining a constant group bitrate and delivering the best overall picture quality.

Integrated Ecosystem

The SL NEO Easy Muxer is fully integrated into the SL NEO media services platform — a modular, software-defined environment where specialized modules operate together in real time across one or more hardware platforms.

Additional modules — including changeover, QC, and other workflow components — can be integrated to create a fully tailored broadcast solution:

Failover Switcher
For automated signal integrity and failover control
Media Quality Control
For upstream input validation and quality assurance.
Time Delay
For adding shift to selected input streams
Multiscreen
For real-time visualization and monitoring

Use Cases

Broadcast Headends
Aggregate multiple regional or channel feeds into compliant MPTS outputs for terrestrial, satellite, or IP delivery.
IPTV & OTT Platforms
Package incoming SPTS feeds into consistent multiplexed groups with EPG insertion, PID remapping, and buffering
Satellite Uplink Preparation
Delay and repackage feeds to synchronize delivery to transponders, apply stream compensation, and monitor feed integrity
Event-Based Multifeed Packaging
Merge multiple camera angles, audio languages, or commentary tracks into unified outputs for global distribution or venue transmission
