SL NEO Transport Stream Failover

MPEG-2 TS changeover
MPTS and SPTS support for DVB and ATSC
IP and ASI I/O: UDP, RTP, SRT, RIST, Zixi
Main/Backup and Aggregate Source workflows
Monitor, detect, and switch MPEG-2 TS streams automatically — before viewers notice

Overview

SL NEO EASY TS Failover Switcher is an automated redundancy solution designed to monitor and protect MPEG-2 Transport Streams (SPTS/MPTS) in IP and ASI delivery workflows.

By supervising up to 32 main/backup transport stream pairs, the system continuously analyzes stream integrity and media content quality, automatically switching to a healthy backup source within milliseconds when a fault is detected — without operator intervention.

The Failover Switcher provides a critical safety layer for broadcast playout, IPTV headends, OTT contribution, and satellite delivery chains, protecting against silent failures that may otherwise go unnoticed until viewers are affected.

Workflow

External Feed Redundancy

TS Failover ensures uninterrupted delivery by intelligently selecting the best available feed. It supports dual-source inputs — such as the same signal delivered over different paths (internet / satellite) or streams from main and backup servers — and automatically switches when quality issues are detected.
To optimize operational costs, the backup feed can remain inactive while the primary feed is healthy and is only activated when required, ensuring reliability without unnecessary bandwidth or subscription expenses.

Output Stream Redundancy

TS Failover keeps your streams on air by automatically switching between main and backup outputs when issues occur—without changing destination addresses or reconfiguring downstream systems.
To ensure end-to-end resilience, TS Failover itself can be deployed in a redundant configuration. Paired modules monitor each other, and if one fails, the backup instantly takes over and continues streaming to the same multicast address, eliminating single points of failure in the broadcast chain.

Integrated Ecosystem

The SL NEO EASY TS FAILOVER is fully integrated into the SL NEO media services platform — a modular, software-defined environment where specialized modules operate together in real time across one or more hardware platforms.

Additional modules — including Easy Muxer, QC, and other workflow components — can be integrated to create a fully tailored broadcast solution:

Easy Muxer
For stream routing and aggregation with advanced TS processing and timing control
Media Quality Control
For upstream input validation and quality assurance
Multiscreen
For real-time visualization and monitoring
SL NEO Base Module
For coordination, management and control for all the system

Use Cases

Broadcast Playout
Protect playout live inputs/outputs from frozen video, audio loss, or TS corruption by automatically switching to mirrored backup feeds.
IPTV & OTT Platforms
Ensure stable, compliant streams for packagers, origin servers, and CDN ingest points
Satellite Uplink
Validate and protect streams before modulation and transmission, preventing silent TS errors
Contribution Feeds
Secure incoming IP feeds from remote encoders or cloud environments
