SkyLark Brings Advanced Media Processing and Recording Workflows to the Browser

October 1, 2026

SkyLark has significantly expanded its browser-based media workflows, bringing more desktop-class media management and production capabilities into the web environment.

Web applications can now work with a wide range of external storage systems, including FTP, S3, P2, Avid, Interplay, local folders, and other supported media locations. Operators can browse available assets, select sources and destinations, and move media between supported storage systems directly from a browser.

A new Media Processing Queue handles longer-running operations such as transfers, imports, exports, rendering, and transcoding. Jobs remain in the queue across server restarts and can be monitored, prioritized, cancelled, retried, or reordered according to user permissions.

The browser-based Transcode Wizard brings the familiar SkyLark processing workflow to web applications. It provides configurable video, audio, proxy, caption, graphics, and metadata processing and submits completed jobs directly to the Media Processing Queue.

SkyLark has also introduced a personal Staging Area for web users. Each authorized user can receive an individual server-side workspace for uploading files, downloading media, exporting or rendering content, and importing it into other storages. Access permissions and storage quotas can be assigned by user group.

In addition, Recording Channels and Recording Timeline are now available as web widgets. Operators can browse continuous recordings, create clips, adjust their ranges, edit metadata, commit clips, assign transfer destinations, and monitor the associated recorder directly from the browser.

Together, these capabilities extend SkyLark’s web platform from media browsing and monitoring into a more complete environment for media preparation, transfer, processing, and recording workflows.
