SkyLark has expanded its support for professional broadcast audio workflows with AAC LATM/LOAS handling in transport streams and improved support for Dolby E and other non-PCM audio data over SDI.
AAC audio carried in LOAS/LATM framing can now be captured, decoded, monitored, remultiplexed, and generated by SkyLark systems.
Transport-stream capture recognizes AAC LATM audio as a valid audio stream instead of ignoring it, including support for HE-AAC and HE-AAC v2 content.
Easy Muxer identifies AAC LATM streams, reports their sample rate and channel configuration, monitors them for silence and overload, and can pass them through to an output transport stream. Playout systems can also generate AAC LATM directly as a transport-stream audio format.
Support for embedded SDI audio has also been expanded.
When a DekTec SDI input contains a pair marked as non-PCM, such as a Dolby E signal, the pair can now be captured bit-exact instead of being interpreted as conventional PCM audio and arriving as silence.
On output, SkyLark detects SMPTE 337 data bursts and marks the corresponding SDI pair correctly as non-PCM. The pair bypasses output gain processing so encoded data such as Dolby E is preserved unchanged.
The system also reports the detected PCM and data status of embedded audio pairs, making it easier for engineers to verify complex SDI audio configurations.
These enhancements improve interoperability with broadcast facilities using a combination of compressed transport-stream audio, Dolby E contribution workflows, and embedded professional SDI audio.
