NewsCut Effect Editor Gets a Major Workflow Upgrade

August 25, 2026

SkyLark has introduced a major update to the NewsCut Effect Editor, making effect creation and animation more visual, flexible, and tightly integrated with the editing timeline.

The updated Effect Editor now provides a live preview of the complete effect chain applied to a clip. Editors can see how multiple effects work together, temporarily disable individual effects without removing their settings, change the order of effects, and add new effects directly from the panel.

Keyframe editing has also been redesigned. Once keyframing is enabled for an effect, changing a parameter at the current position automatically creates or updates the corresponding keyframe. Editors can navigate between keyframes directly from the panel while seeing the effective interpolated values at every point in the clip.

The new Transform effect adds keyframeable scaling and X/Y positioning, making it possible to create push-ins, animated moves, reframing, and picture-in-picture layouts. The updated workflow also supports effects such as Blur, Transparency, Color Key, and Color Processing.

Effect editing is now more closely integrated with the NewsCut timeline, while the same workflow is also available for video elements inside graphics compositions. This provides a more consistent and efficient environment for creating visual treatments without leaving NewsCut.
