SkyLark has expanded its live content moderation and profanity delay capabilities to include captions and subtitles.
In addition to existing video blur and audio beep or mute functions, operators can now mark a section of a programme where the original captions should be suppressed or replaced with predefined text.
Caption replacement is applied across the configured caption outputs, including CEA-608/708 closed captions, Teletext subtitles, and DVB subtitle tracks. Replacement text uses the channel’s existing caption settings, helping maintain consistent positioning and presentation.
The new Replace Captions moderation type can be assigned to profanity ranges in the same workflow used for other censorship effects. Replacement content can contain multiple timed caption entries, making it possible not only to hide inappropriate text but also to substitute alternative captions during the marked interval.
Operators can preview the result before playout. Profanity ranges are displayed in the File Monitor and timeline, and when profanity display is enabled, the monitor shows the replacement captions instead of the original material.
The feature can also be controlled through automation actions and external operator panels, supporting both prepared moderation workflows and live marking during a programme.
By extending moderation to captions and subtitles, SkyLark provides more consistent control over all parts of a live broadcast — video, audio, and on-screen text.
